The Wire

Posted by: adam In: Uncategorized

Lindsey and I have been watching HBO’s The Wire. We started at Season 1 and have been trying to watch a few episodes a week.

Season 1 really made the Baltimore Police Department look rough. No funding. Officers that are drunk, or lazy, or both. I thought to myself “wow, I really hope they’re doing this so that it makes for good TV.”

Early on you see detectives writing reports using… typewriters. Now, the show came out in 2002. Type-writers? Are they really that out-of-touch with technology? Not possible.

A week later, as I’m driving to work, I see a billboard for the Baltimore PD. They’re hiring!
What\'s that website again?

Uhm, what’s that website again? baltimorepolice.orgaa ?
Maybe The Wire is more accurate than I’d like to believe.

That is so awesome that you blogged about that billboard! I’ve seen it a few times and every time I’ve made a mental note to look and see if .orgaa is an actual domain suffix. If I hadn’t already made two blog posts today, I’d trackback this post. Maybe another day.

Oh, and HOW THE HECK could someone screw up the domain THAT BAD!?! I mean, I could see a slip of a character or something. But aa? What? As in, alcoholics anonymous? ;)
